Redefining Child Welfare in Mauritius
Defence for Children International–Mauritius conducted a one day meeting to reflect on Redefining Child Welfare in Mauritius. The meeting was organized in conjunction with Halley Movement. Among the core issues discussed at the meeting were
- juvenile in conflict with the law and
- parenting in Mauritius.
The purpose of the meeting was to determine the nexus between juvenile cases and the role of parents for future actions to be taken in light of the increase in cases of juvenile in conflict with the law in the Republic of Mauritius. The meeting was attended by several VIPs including the Minister of Gender Equality, Child development & Family Welfare, and also the chairperson of the National Children’s Council.
